Snapper Creek Lakes Subdivision is an area of 124 homesites, all one acre or more in size. It was originally developed by the late Arthur Vining Davis in the early 1950s with an eye to carefully preserving the lush tropical hammock native to this area. At the heart of the subdivision are two fresh water lakes stocked with fish and maintained by the homeowners who border the lakes. A great asset to the subdivision is its Marina with five-minute access to Biscayne Bay. It boasts a full time dock master and security as well as provides for boat launching, fuel, ice and soft drinks. All homeowners have the privilege of docking a boat at the marina or of storing it either in the dry shed or on land. Fees are based on a price per linear foot and costs are subject to wet or dry storage.
Snapper Creek Lakes is located in Coral Gables opposite Fairchild Tropical Gardens on the west of Old Cutler Road. This road is one of 13 Federally designated highways, which may never be widened. Conveniently located, you are five minutes to S. Miami, ten minutes to downtown Coral Gables, and twenty minutes to Miami International Airport or to downtown Miami.
Excellent schools are available to residents. It should be noted that Palmetto Senior High and its feeder schools, Pinecrest Elementary and Palmetto Junior High, enjoy the top ratings in the Dade County Public School system. Pinecrest has been awarded a National Excellent Award as one of the finest public elementary schools in the United States. It has continued its rank at this level. Pinecrest is walking distance from Snapper Creek Lakes.
Gulliver Academy and Gulliver Preparatory School, St. Thomas Parochial School, Palmer-Trinity School, and Beth Am are among the several excellent private schools available in the immediate neighborhood.
